Things have been pretty lazy around here since thanksgiving. Chef Cedric has finally finished his massive bloody mary.

We didn't take too many food pictures this year. We were more concerned with eating it than documenting it.

Here are our appetizers though:

And here are my pumpkin creme brulees hanging out in their water bath the night before.

And here's one after I torched it!

I used Emeril's recipe, but I cut the spices in half to avoid it tasting too much like pumpkin pie. It was pretty good, but I think I prefer more subtle flavors for creme brulee.

Since then, we've just been eating and spending time with friends. Oh, and grading. Always grading.

And waiting for it to snow. Ahem, Spokane. Snow. Maybe?

Stuffing and Stuff!

Cedric couldn't sleep in like he planned, so he's getting started on the stuffing.

Our day will be pretty low key. We'll still be stuffing our faces though. In fact, it's time to test one of the pumpkin creme brulees right now!

Happy thanksgiving everyone!

A Break is Near!

Well it only looked like this for a day:

Now it looks more like this:

But that's okay because today the UPS guy brought me this:

I waited all morning and half the afternoon, but finally he showed up. I might have answered the door a little too quickly, a little too energetically. Sorry UPS guy.

Oh no, it's raining, and Joe walked to work. I guess I have no choice but to wear my sweet boots and go pick him up.

Oh no, Joe works right across the street from Madeleine's, the delightful french cafe that just recently posted a new batch of macarons on their facebook page.

Guess I'll have to get one while I wait for Joe. Or two. How do you decide between strawberry rhubarb and pumpkin caramel?

One more day of class this week and then we start cooking!

Look What We Got...

It seems like this is happening earlier than it did last year. But checking last November's post, I see that the snow is really only a few days earlier.

I also see that, exactly like this year, we still hadn't changed our clocks to the right time. Consistency!

Aside from the snow, not much else is new.

We somehow managed to wake up early enough to eat breakfast at Madeleine's this week:

Look at that adorable little fruit tart we split! We even cut it into four strategic pieces so we would each get to have a bite with each type of fruit on it.

And here's Joe trying to ignore my constant Mmming over my perfect latte.

Our three-day weekend is coming to an end, and it's obvious by the way Joe is hunched over his computer right now.

C'mon snow day!

I wanted to get a book from the campus library yesterday and realized I had never gotten my ID. Normally I wouldn't allow you to see my not-so-great ID photo, but this is just too hilarious to stay hidden in my wallet.

Notice anything strange?

To be fair, the girl who made it did have a head cold.

Did I get it fixed? Of course not. It's too perfect of a mistake to give up. Plus teaching Inglish instead of English might be a refreshing change.

And in case you didn't notice, instructor is spelled wrong too.
